In 1945, LifeSpan began as a private, not-for-profit organization in rural post-war Hamilton, Ohio. In Butler County and all across America, communities celebrated the end of a war and faced the challenges ahead. Soldiers returning home to their families needed jobs, assistance, and support. To provide the needed support to these military families, a small counseling agency, Family Services of Hamilton, was founded. It would later come to be known as LifeSpan, Inc.
As society rebounded after the war, the Baby Boom began and southern Ohio experienced dramatic growth. To assist with the new challenges families faced, LifeSpan added new programs to meet the changing needs of the community. The agency was also able to begin expanding into Warren County.
Today, LifeSpan’s programs reach thousands of people of all ages, backgrounds and income levels across Butler, Warren and Hamilton Counties. LifeSpan has expanded to have more programs, staff, and offices than it had in 1945, but it remains focused on its mission of strengthening families and individuals who seek to improve the quality of their lives.
