Advocate for an Elderly or Disabled Citizen as their Court-Appointed Guardian. Be the Voice for Someone in Need!
Volunteer Guardians are provided to individuals who have been deemed by the Probate Court to be unable to make appropriate decisions for themselves.
Volunteers must be a resident of the State of Ohio, over the age of 18 and willing to make a minimum 2-year commitment.
Volunteers start as “Friendly Visitors” for the first 6 months to assure that it is a good match. After that time, legal guardianship can be pursued.
Volunteer Guardians receive ongoing direction and support from LifeSpan staff and have completed training and background checks.
- Guardians develop a personal relationship with the client.
- Guardians advocate for the client’s needs.
- Financial services are also available from staff guardians.
