The TakeCare program provides oversight and support to adults
receiving public assistance. The program targets adults who receive
assistance in the form of Ohio Works First (OWF) funds and are
required to work or pursue education or job training. Those who
care for a seriously ill family member must seek a work exception. A
LifeSpan TakeCare educator/case manager monitors these caregivers to
ensure they have proper training and are providing a safe environment.
The effectiveness of this program has led to its recognition as one of
Ohio’s Department of Job and Family Services’ best practices.
LifeSpan’s licensed social workers are contracted through the
ODMH and Butler County’s Board of Mental Health to provide mental
health assessments for incoming residents of long term care facilities to
determine the need for mental health intervention.
Many mentally ill or disabled residents of
Butler and Warren Counties rely on Social
Security for their monthly income. When
their illness or disability interferes with their
ability to manage their money, instability
or homelessness can result. LifeSpan’s
Representative Payee program provides bill
payment service for these individuals ensuring
their bills are paid on time which keeps their
rent current, their utilities on and their lives
stable.
The success of the Representative Payee
program has brought stability to the lives
of many vulnerable community residents.
Others, who do not have disabilities or receive
Social Security, have taken note of this. The
service has expanded to serve clients who have steady income and the
ability to manage it but not the time. LifeSpan also offers these clients
bill paying services on a fee-for-service basis.
